Addressing the housing needs of the people of Wales are a frequent feature of discussions with local authorities. The significant pressures caused by the pandemic has led to unprecedented numbers being housing in temporary accommodation. 18,000 people, who would otherwise be homeless, have been helped in this way since March 2020.
Our focus will increasingly be on prevention and supporting local authorities and partners to help people into long-term and stable homes through our rapid rehousing approach. We will be doing this whilst also managing the large numbers of Ukrainian refugees expected to come to Wales in the coming weeks. Collaboration with our partners in local government, voluntary groups and civil society will be essential in ensuring that anyone in need of a home in Wales will find one.
