What are the Welsh Government doing to address concerns about staffing capacity in Natural Resources Wales?

Atebwyd gan Minister for Climate Change
Natural Resources Wales will receive over £100 million in income from the Welsh Government in the 2022-23 financial year. It is for the leadership of Natural Resources Wales to utilise this funding and ensure that there is sufficient capacity to deliver on its statutory obligations.
However, where Natural Resources Wales make us aware of an issue concerning staffing capacity, we will work with them to address it. In the last year, we have worked with Natural Resources Wales to undertake a baseline review of their essential activity. Our next step is to work with Natural Resources Wales to co-design service level agreements which will define the expected level of service, the metrics by which that service will be performance measured, and the associated funding that is required to deliver the agreed service.
