How much funding has the Welsh Government provided to sporting clubs across Wales to install or maintain 4G pitches over the previous three financial years, broken down separately?

Technologies beyond 3G, such as 4G and 5G, are not yet recognised by Sport Wales or any of the sport national governing bodies across the UK. As such, no funding has been directed towards them to date but investing in 4G pitches is included in our Programme for Government as part of our wider commitment to invest in sports facilities.
However, in terms of 3G pitches only, for the three-year period 2019-22 we have supported 25 different projects through Sport Wales at a total grant award of £3.5m.
For the same period, combined with artificial turf pitch (ATP) projects, this number increases to 32 different projects totalling £4.7m. This sum is a combination of full-size and smaller-sized pitches.
For clarity, ATP is either a sand-based surface, sand-dressed surface or a water-based surface and is only really suitable for hockey. A 3G pitch has artificial grass pile, some sort of infill (usually rubber crumb) and is suitable for football and rugby.
