What assessment has the Welsh Government made of the frequency of services between Cardiff Bay and Cardiff Queen Street?

Atebwyd gan Deputy Minister for Climate Change
Transport for Wales implemented an emergency timetable in late December 2021 due to the significant rise in Coronavirus cases being experienced. This resulted in a reduced level of rail services across Wales, including between Cardiff Bay and Cardiff Queen Street.
Presently, Transport for Wales are operating one service an hour between Cardiff Bay and Cardiff Queen Street. I am pleased to be able to advise that from 9 April 2022 this will be increased to two services per hour on this route.
Transport for Wales are currently working on repairs to the railway track just to the south of Cardiff Queen Street. This work is on schedule to be completed prior to the 15 May 2022 timetable change and will enable Transport for Wales to re-introduce “pre-covid” service levels on the line between Cardiff Bay and Cardiff Queen Street of five services per hour from this date.
