Further to the written statement on 29 March 2022 on building safety, will the Minister confirm when funding will be released to enable repairs to start?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Minister for Climate Change
As the Member will be aware, the second phase of the Building Safety fund forms part of the Co-operation Agreement.
We have completed the digital surveys for all the 248 buildings that submitted an expression of interest. More than 100 buildings require further intrusive surveys to establish exactly what remediation work is required. These have already begun and are due to be completed by the end of the summer. These surveys will provide the evidence needed to understand the right solutions to make these buildings safe.
I have committed to making £375m available over the next three years to invest in repair work and Welsh Government officials are awaiting this vital intrusive survey information to inform the next steps of remediating medium and high rise buildings in Wales.
