What steps is the Minister taking to support the long-term financial sustainability of clubs in the Welsh football pyramid?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Deputy Minister for Arts and Sport, and Chief Whip
This is a matter for the Football Association of Wales (FAW) as the national governing body and around how they support and govern clubs in the Welsh football pyramid. I am aware the FAW is encouraging good governance in Welsh football through its Code of Ethics aimed at safeguarding the integrity and reputation of football in Wales and those involved in the game. More generally, the financial viability of football clubs is an important issue and a focus in the recently published Fan Led Review of football governance in England authored by Tracey Crouch. The UK Government has accepted each of the recommendations in that review and is developing a White Paper for consultation later this year. I understand the FAW will follow those developments closely and will look to explore best practice for its own processes in Wales.
