What steps is the Minister taking to ensure greater accountability and transparency in the Welsh Transport Appraisal Guidance (WelTAG) process?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Minister for Climate Change
My officials have been updating WelTAG to align it with Llwybr Newydd – the Wales Transport Strategy. Changes include introducing a new “Stage 0” to ensure the case for change is agreed before options are considered at Stage 1. The draft new WelTAG will be out for consultation in August 2022.
Alongside the updated guidance, we are considering future governance and performance arrangements to align with the forthcoming Regional Transport Plans, including how decisions made for transport investment can best support the ambitions and priorities of Llwybr Newydd and also to provide robust assurance on the delivery of those investments.
