What Welsh Government assistance is available to support businesses in transitioning to electric vans?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Deputy Minister for Climate Change
Most levers which influence the rate of adoption of electric vehicles in Wales are retained by the UK Government. These include tax incentives for employees to purchase vehicles and average CO2 / zero emission vehicle mandates for manufacturers. The UK Government recently ceased offering grant support for the purchase of zero emission cars and the installation of domestic EV chargepoints but still offers grant support for the purchase of zero emission vans and heavy goods vehicles.
The focus of Welsh Government support for electric vehicle adoption is on increasing the availability of publicly accessible chargepoints. At the end of July 2022 there were 1,218 publicly accessible chargepoints in Wales, a 33% increase over the year.
