Ateb
Atebwyd gan Minister for Climate Change
The proposed development of 131 low carbon affordable homes by Catrefi Conwy Housing Association in Pensarn is a strategic housing priority for Conwy County Borough Council. It features in Conwy’s Social Housing Grant (SHG) Programme Delivery Plan for 2022/23 to 2024/25, with an estimated grant requirement of £11m, providing a mixture of Social and Intermediate Rent homes.
Cartrefi Conwy Housing Association purchased the site at Pensarn with a £2.9m loan from the Welsh Government’s Innovative Housing Programme, which provided funding to encourage more modern methods of construction (MMC).
The site has outline planning permission for the building of up to 131 homes, and Catrefi Conwy are currently taking the scheme through the planning process which will include consultation.
The properties will be built by Creating Enterprise, a subsidiary of Cartrefi Conwy which specialises in creating timber-frame homes. The properties will meet Welsh Government design and value for money requirements.
We remain committed to delivering 20,000 new low carbon homes for rent in the social sector this Senedd term and have committed record levels of funding to support this.
