Through our National Strategy, Welsh Government promotes natural flood risk management (NFM), including tree planting, wherever it can provide real benefits to a community. Our Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management Business Case Guidance requires all Risk Management Authorities, including Local Authorities and NRW, applying for funding through Welsh Government to consider natural flood management at the short list stage. Our Woodland Opportunities Map highlights the areas in South Wales Central where tree planting is expected to help alleviate flooding.
