What impact assessment has the Minister made of COVID-19 regulations and their impact on mental health in adults?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Deputy Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing
Summary impact assessments to capture the impact of the regulations are published here: Impact assessments: coronavirus | GOV.WALES. The summary impact assessments include an assessment of the impact of the regulations on well-being. We continue to use a range of information to understand the impact of the regulations and the pandemic on mental health and well-being. This includes population level surveys and information from services.
This information informed the refresh of our Together for Mental Health Delivery Plan 2019-22 which was updated in response to the impact of the pandemic on the mental health and wellbeing of people in Wales. The Strategic Programme for Primary Care also incorporates a specific workstream on Mental Health and Wellbeing to help us understand mental health needs and to strengthen support.
We have also provided additional funding to strengthen easy to access mental health support to respond to higher levels of anxiety in our population. This includes online and telephone-based support that doesn’t need a referral from a health professional.
