What discussions has the Minister had with all health boards regarding following the advice of NICE guidance on pre-eclampsia?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Minister for Health and Social Services
I welcomed the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidance that was published on 27 July which recommends placental growth factor (PlGF) blood tests alongside standard clinical assessments to support care decisions for pregnant mothers with suspected preterm pre-eclampsia. We expect all health boards in Wales to follow the relevant NICE and UK National Screening Committee (UK NSC) guidelines. Testing should be used as part of clinical decision making and management, as per NICE guidelines. All health boards are expected to implement NICE guidelines within a reasonable planning and procurement timescale.
