What action is the Welsh Government taking to help the market identify areas in Wales which are lacking in electric vehicle charging points?

We are proactively planning for the future EV charging network in Wales by building a model which identifies future demand scenarios and their spatial distribution. This will allow us to identify priority areas for installing EV charging infrastructure, to encourage public and private sector investment to take place in a way that meets growing demand and provides the best value to Wales in line with our EV Charging Strategy and Action Plan.
We have also begun a series of engagement workshops aimed at briefing public and private sector organisations on our plans and discuss the commercial opportunities and challenges of delivering the ambitious EV charging infrastructure for Wales. We are also working with the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) to promote their grant schemes to local authorities for the installation of EV charging infrastructure.
To date, we have invested over £26m on EV charging infrastructure since 2019.
