Will the Minister provide an update on the progression of the Data Nation Accelerator?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Minister for Economy
The Welsh Government provided £500,000 for the Wales Data Nation Accelerator (WDNA) in FY2021-22 to deliver a series of proof of concept ‘sprint’ projects. This work demonstrated how the WDNA might operate on a national scale and provided an early assessment of its potential wider benefits.
Following the completion of this work, my officials – in conjunction with an industry-led Peer Review Group – have supported the WDNA on the development of an Outline Business Case (OBC) in order to generate further investment.
We will continue to work with our partners in academia to consider how best we can support the WDNA proposal, including how we might leverage and maximise all potential sources of funding. My officials will also be working to ensure where technology such as AI is used, it is done so in an ethical, responsible and inclusive way, aligned to the underlying principles of the wider Digital Strategy for Wales.
