What steps has the Welsh Government taken to incentivise the implementation of renewable energy installations like wind and solar on agricultural land?

Future Wales provides a positive policy framework for new renewable energy developments and associated infrastructure and determines renewable and low carbon energy developments of national significance. Future Wales also makes clear that our productive land is a vital resource and we must continue to value and protect our agricultural land.
Where Best and Most Versatile (BMV) land is identified within a proposed renewable development, considerable weight should be given to protecting such land from development, because of its special importance, and unless other significant material considerations indicate otherwise it will be necessary to refuse permission.
For renewable developments where permission is given, we are providing a range of business advice and support to farmers through Business Wales and Farming Connect, which includes advice on energy efficiency and renewable energy generation.
