The UK Government reports statistics on the roll out of electric vehicle chargepoints across the UK. These are available at Electric vehicle charging infrastructure statistics - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) as well as at Electric vehicle charging device statistics: January 2023 - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
These reports include the following data of relevance to the Written Questions.
• Table 1a: Publicly available electric vehicle charging devices at all speeds by local authority, from October 2019
• Table 1b: Publicly available electric vehicle Rapid charging or above devices by local authority, from October 2019
• Table 3: shows Number of public charging devices available in each quarter by location (On Street Charging Devices, Destination Charging Devices, En-Route Charging Devices, Other Charging Devices) since January 2022 but these data are reported at UK level only.
The data reported by UK Government is sourced from the electric vehicle charging point platform Zap-Map.
The UK Government also reports electric vehicle charging device grant scheme statistics, funded through UK Government grant schemes: Electric vehicle charging device grant scheme statistics: October 2022 - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
This includes the following data of relevance to the Written Questions.
• Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS): sockets installed by upper and lower tier local authority
• On-Street Residential Scheme (ORCS): Completed charging device installations (UK level data only)
• Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS): Charging devices installed each year by upper and lower tier local authority, United Kingdom from 2014.
Wales has approximately 1,500 public chargepoints installed, approximately 1 chargepoint for every 9 battery electric vehicle (BEV). The total UK figure is 1 chargepoint for approximately every 16 BEV. This represents between 3% and 5% of the 2030 target.
