What work has Welsh Government and Natural Resources Wales done with Avara and others in the chicken industry to reduce phosphate levels in the River Wye?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Minister for Climate Change
Welsh Government and Natural Resources Wales are working and engaging with agricultural stakeholders through the Wales Land Management Forum Subgroup on Agricultural Pollution, the Special Area of Conservation (SAC) Rivers Oversight Group and Nutrient Management Boards for SAC Rivers. The SAC Rivers Agriculture Technical Group has also recently been established to identify and understand the phosphate and water quality issues in SAC River Catchments.
Welsh Government and Natural Resources Wales are aware of the roadmap produced by Avara to ensure its supply chain is no longer contributing to excess phosphate in the river Wye. Welsh Government officials are meeting with Avara in the coming days to discuss ways of working together to address phosphate levels in our rivers.
