What consideration has the Welsh Government given to implementing a moratorium on all roadworks during bank holiday weekends?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Deputy Minister for Climate Change
There is already an embargo period for road works on the strategic road network for the major holiday periods i.e. Christmas, Easter and the six week summer holidays and Bank Holiday weekends. As some roadworks are essential for safety reasons it is not possible to have a complete moratorium on all road works, and for other long-term roadworks it is not cost effective to lift them for short durations such as a Bank Holiday weekend.
Where possible road works are planned in advance to avoid these times of year.
