The supply of medicines is monitored, managed and regulated on a UK wide basis.
Officials at the Welsh Government work closely with NHS Wales and community pharmacies to ensure patients continue to receive the medicines they need.
Occasionally, the NHS experiences temporary shortages of specific medicines, however we are not aware of any supply issues with hydrocortisone cream at this time.
We are aware of supply issues at the UK level for some more potent steroid creams and ointments. The Department of Health & Social Care’s medicines shortages team has liaised with suppliers of alternative products and confirmed alternatives remain available.
Anyone who is having difficulty obtaining any treatment should contact their doctor or pharmacist for further advice.
