The North Wales Growth Deal (NWGD) is led by North Wales Economic Ambition Board – a collaboration of the region’s six Local Authorities, two Universities, two Colleges and private sector representatives, with the potential for £1bn of investment, in addition to the £240 million investment jointly funded from the Welsh and UK Government.
As well as reporting to the NWEAB, the NWGD Portfolio Management Office report to both governments on a quarterly basis. As part of its monitoring and evaluation process, it doesn’t separate jobs created into public / private sector.
The NWGD projects are strategic investments that expand far beyond only job creation, in total the deal is expected to deliver £2.4bn net additional GVA and £721m Private sector investment over 15 years of the deal.
The Digital Signal Processing Centre (DSP) project is the first NWGD project to move into delivery. To date DSP has created 13 new jobs at Bangor University.
