What consideration has the Welsh Government given to funding the appointment of Armed Forces Covenant leads in each local health board?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Deputy Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing
There is a network of Armed Forces and Veterans Champions within health boards across Wales. These Independent Board Member and Executive Lead Directors advocate for veterans and Service personnel to ensure their needs are reflected in local service plans. This would include consideration of the Armed Forces Covenant and Duty of “due regard”.
I understand that some health boards have appointed Armed Forces Covenant Leads through bids to the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust. This has been promoted to other health boards through the Armed Forces and Veterans’ Champions meetings. Ultimately it is for health boards to determine whether they would want to develop this role within their areas.
