What is the Welsh Government doing to support local authorities in affording electric recycling vehicles?

Atebwyd gan Minister for Climate Change
The Welsh Government provides comprehensive support to local authorities to help improve and decarbonise recycling services. This includes providing grant support for the difference in the up-front purchasing costs of electric collection vehicles.
To date, we have provided more than £9m to support the purchase of 60 electric local authority waste fleet vehicles. As a result, more than half local authorities have now begun the process of replacing their fossil fuel-powered collection fleet with ultra-low emission vehicles, in line with the target of decarbonising the public sector by 2030. This is not only directly helping to tackle the climate emergency by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, but also contributing to important positive action on air quality.
