What assessment has the Minister made of the potential savings to the capital programme following the outcome of the roads review?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Deputy Minister for Climate Change
Schemes considered by the independent roads review panel were at the development stage of their project lifecycle and before construction budgets were allocated, therefore, there are no significant immediate savings to the capital programme.
We will now be focusing future infrastructure spend on the development, delivery, operation and maintenance of public transport improvements, as well as projects that make it easier for people to walk or cycle. We will also prioritise investment in the existing road network – protecting roads against climate change, refurbishing critical assets and improving safety – in line with the four tests we set out in response to the Roads Review.
