Our estimates of additional housing need across Wales show that up to 2023/24, under central estimates, 3,500 additional affordable homes are needed annually.
It is the responsibility of local authorities in Wales to undertake a periodical review of housing need, discharged through the Local Housing Market Assessment (LHMA) process. The quality and currency of the outputs from the assessments are particularly important to the evidence base for Local Development Plans. They play a vital part in delivering market and affordable housing and in meeting housing need.
