Atebwyd gan Deputy Minister for Climate Change
The South Wales Metro is a long-term programme which integrates rail, bus and active travel projects. We are continuing to work with partners such as Network Rail and the UK Department for Transport to progress key elements including Cardiff Central Enhancement and Cardiff Crossrail.
The Treherbert line upgrades will be completed and reopened in February 2024. We are working with Transport for Wales to bring new trains into service, similar to those already being run on the Rhymney line, for passengers using the Treherbert, Aberdare and Merthyr Tydfil lines next year.
