What back-up solutions are in place for Welsh Government-funded devices for Ministers, Deputy Ministers and senior officials and do these include backing up WhatsApp messages and content?

WhatsApp is not permitted for use on Welsh Government managed devices and individuals are not able to install applications that are not centrally provided. No specific message deletion application is loaded to Welsh Government managed devices and they are not backed up.
Individuals are responsible for identifying information that reflects and records official Welsh Government business and ensuring that it is saved as a record in the corporate repository. The Welsh Government’s approach to managing information is in accordance with information legislation and is set out in the Information Management and Governance Policy.
