How will the Welsh Government support local authorities who face the potential risk of significant job losses due to budgetary constraints?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Minister for Finance and Local Government
Despite the challenging financial situation the Welsh Government faces, we will continue to prioritise frontline public services - including local government - in our budget decisions as far as possible. The Revenue Support Grant was protected during the in-year reprioritisation exercise.
The decision of the UK Government at the Autumn Statement not to provide additional funding for public services to recognise the impact of inflation on their budgets has increased the risk that local authorities and other public services will need to make decisions to manage reductions in workforce.
