How is the Welsh Government marking the International Day of Disabled People?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Minister for Social Justice and Chief Whip
On 3 December – the International Day of Disabled People – the Welsh Government will light up key buildings in purple to show our support. I will be visiting Disability Wales and the British Deaf Association at their new offices at Sbarc in Cardiff on 4 December to hear about the important work they are doing. We will be discussing several key issues including the UNCRDP, cost-of-living crisis, and British Sign Language. I will also be making a statement to Plenary on 5 December.
It is currently Disability History Month(16 November to 16 December) and this offers another opportunity to highlight that there is still much to be done to remove barriers experienced by disabled people not only in Wales but across the UK and the world. The work of the Disability Rights Taskforce will help us understand those barriers and what needs to be done to remove them.
This work is being carried out in collaboration with Sian Gwenllian, the Plaid Cymru lead designated member, as part of the Co-operation Agreement between the Welsh Government and Plaid Cymru.
