Any form of violence or abuse against staff in our schools is completely unacceptable. We want our schools to be safe and welcoming environments where teachers can get on with their jobs, ensuring that every child and young person is supported to reach their potential.
All schools are required to have a behaviour policy which promotes good behaviour on the part of its pupils. School behaviour and attendance policies shape the school ethos and they make a statement about how the school values and includes all the people in it.
As outlined in previous answers, the Welsh Government is developing guidance which aims to support senior leaders in schools and pupil referral units (PRUs) to make well informed decisions about their behaviour strategies.
Officials are already engaged with the sector, including Unions, on the development of this guidance.
