What is the most up-to-date expected completion date for work on the core valley lines to be fully completed, with the new metro trains being used?

Atebwyd gan Deputy Minister for Climate Change
Transport for Wales expect to complete the majority of the works to the Core Valley Lines in 2024, enabling new trains to operate services to Treherbert, Aberdare and Merthyr Tydfil later this year. New trains are already operating on the Rhymney line. Some infrastructure improvement works will continue on the Core Valley Lines beyond 2024 to enable future service enhancements.
