The ‘empowerment, safety, and respect’ strand of the mandatory Relationships and Sexuality education (RSE) Code includes learning to protect learners from all forms of discrimination, violence, abuse and neglect and enabling them to recognise unsafe or harmful relationships and situations, supporting them to recognise when, how and where to seek support and advice. This includes an important emphasis on keeping safe in different situations and gives important opportunity for spiking to be considered within this learning.
The Peer on Peer sexual harassment in education settings action plan that I recently published sets out the actions Welsh Government and partners will take to prevent and respond to the issue of peer-on-peer sexual harassment and harmful sexual behaviour in education settings.
