Cwestiwn

Will the Cabinet Secretary set out the work the Welsh Government will undertake to create an objective means whereby the viability of undergrounding electricity lines, as referred to in Planning Policy Wales, can be established in relation to individual planning applications?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Welsh Language
We are convening an Independent Advisory Group to take forward work to build an understanding of the possible approaches to delivering electricity transmission infrastructure, agreeing principles for the most appropriate solutions for Wales and creating a public evidence base to support the principles.
The principles will be fed into policy development around energy infrastructure and once agreed will be integrated into Planning Policy Wales. Proposals for new electricity lines would need to meet these principles, if planning applications for each line are to be supported by the Welsh Government.
