How many children would lose access to free transport following the Learner Transport Review, if all councils decided to align with the Welsh Government's statutory distance criteria?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Cabinet Secretary for North Wales and Transport
The learner travel review has not changed the statutory distance criteria.
Local authorities have a statutory duty to meet the requirements of the Learner Travel (Wales) Measure. They also have discretionary powers to provide school transport that is over and above this requirement. Such provision varies across Wales with information about the number of learners receiving discretionary transport held by individual local authorities that provide it.
