Atebwyd gan Cabinet Secretary for Health, Social Care and Welsh Language
In the last 100 days, my officials have continued to deliver against the Digital and Data Strategy for Health and Social Care, supported by positive collaboration with the wider sector via the Welsh Government established AI Commission for Health and Social Care.
Officials working with the Commission have developed a forward thinking workplan for targeted improvements for staff and patients, delivering AI improvements in a safe and ethical way. This work is closely aligned with wider activity across Welsh Government and the public sector.
Specific deliverables over this period include publishing guidance for algorithmic transparency on a cross sector basis. Alignment and joint working with UK Government, and a new online resource for building engagement with the AI Commission and wider professional networks.
Officials are currently reviewing published guidance for health and social care staff, working collaboratively with NHS England, further details of this resource will be announced soon.
Finally, the deployment of AI to support stroke diagnosis across all Health Boards in Wales as of April marks a significant milestone in enhancing stroke care. Wales is the first nation in the UK to implement this technology across all its acute admitting sites.
