Will the Welsh Government prioritise the construction of a north Denbighshire community hospital in light of the Healthcare Inspectorate Wales report on Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, published on 22 August 2024?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care
I was pleased to see Healthcare Inspectorate Wales recognise the positive improvements made at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd’s emergency department. However, further improvements to the service are still needed.
In respect of proposals for a north Denbighshire community hospital, Betsi Cadwaladr University Health is reviewing plans in partnership with local stakeholders. It remains my expectation these will include a minor injuries unit and intermediate care beds, which would help address some of the issues raised in the Healthcare Inspectorate Wales report.
Once a revised business case is submitted, it will be considered and prioritised against the other requests received from NHS Wales.
