What support does the Welsh Government offer to children suffering from epilepsy in Welsh schools?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Cabinet Secretary for Education
The Welsh Government’s Supporting Learners with Healthcare Needs document provides advice and statutory guidance for schools and other bodies to support learners with healthcare needs and ensure minimal disruption to their education.
Under the guidance, all pupils in mainstream schools in Wales with conditions such as epilepsy should have an individual healthcare plan, setting out the support they need.
The school should also identify appropriate staff to support the learner, and secure any additional training required.
