Nursing staff shortages are a global phenomenon, as recognised by the World Health organisation.
We continue to invest in the sustainability of our NHS workforce, and this year we are investing record levels in training and professional education. The number of nursing vacancies has decreased thanks to a combination of our investment in training, international recruitment, and improved retention.
