Why weren't passengers given notice ahead of the cancellation of 48 Penarth trains on 27 December 2024?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Cabinet Secretary for Transport and North Wales
On Friday 27 December 2024 there were a high number of cancelled Transport for Wales (TfW) train services to Penarth. This was the result of fleet faults impacting the number of trains that TfW had available on the day to operate services. Unfortunately, as these fleet issues occurred on the day TfW were not able to provide passengers with advance notice of the disruption to services. TfW apologise for the inconvenience caused to passengers from these cancellations. However, TfW services on the Core Valley Lines are demonstrating an improvement in punctuality and reliability. This will be boosted on services to Penarth with the introduction of the brand-new Class 756 tri-mode trains from Spring this year.
