What plans does the Welsh Government have to upgrade or rebuild Newport train station to make it fit for purpose?

Atebwyd gan Cabinet Secretary for Transport and North Wales
Railway infrastructure in Wales, with the exception of the Core Valley Lines, is a reserved matter. Newport train station is owned by Network Rail and investment to make significant upgrades or to rebuild this station would be a matter for the UK Government. However, Transport for Wales are making improvements to the station that will benefit passengers. They have worked with Network Rail on the refurbishment of the canopies on platforms 2 & 3, installed improved signage and have provided new offices for passenger assistance and lost property. Network Rail are also developing plans for the replacement of the bridge roof at Newport Station.
