Llwybr Newydd - The Wales Transport Strategy sets out targets for modal shift and emissions reduction and how we are working towards achieving them.
Walking, wheeling and cycling, are identified in Llwybr Newydd as key components of a sustainable and healthy transport system. We are investing in infrastructure projects that create safe, accessible, and enjoyable conditions for active travel. We are also focussing on the integration of active travel and public transport.
In addition to infrastructure, we are working collaboratively with local authorities, businesses, and community groups to create a culture that supports and promotes active travel. Furthermore, our commitment extends to ensuring that active travel is inclusive and accessible to all members of society, including disabled people and those living in rural areas. We recognize the need for tailored solutions that address the unique challenges faced by different communities.
To monitor our progress we have developed a Wales National Transport Survey which will deliver its first results in 2026.
