What discussions is the Cabinet Secretary having with local authorities about preventing animal waste bags being thrown into hedges and greenery?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs
I have asked Keep Wales Tidy to target resolving this issue and work with Local Authorities. This will include an awareness raising campaign to emphasise that this practice is unacceptable and to encourage dog owners to dispose of their dog waste responsibly.
Local Authorities can also establish Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. PSPOs can be used to tackle anti-social behaviour and can specify defined exclusion zones within specific areas to control problems such as dog fouling.
