What is the Welsh Government’s strategy for encouraging private investment in Wales’s energy sector?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning
We are committed to bringing in new investment into Wales’s energy sector to create green jobs and growth and to make families in Wales more prosperous. We have set ambitious targets to scale up renewable energy generation to fully meet our electricity needs by 2035. We have put more funding into our planning and consenting bodies to accelerate decisions, we are currently working on a renewable energy sector deal and we have set up an offshore wind task and finish group.
To create a clear policy to encourage investment in the energy sector we have also recently consulted on our Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage policy and our hydrogen policy is out for consultation. Our investment summit in December will showcase Wales to international investors across a number of sectors including energy.
