What plans does the Welsh Government have to ensure all staff working with children and young people have the appropriate training to identify and support children with speech, language and communication challenges?

Atebwyd gan Cabinet Secretary for Education
We have collaborated with the Third Sector Additional Needs Alliance (TSANA) to develop an e-learning resource for teachers and schools about different types of learning difficulties or disabilities. This resource is available on Hwb and includes a specific unit on supporting learners with speech and communication difficulties.
The National Professional Learning and Leadership Support Body will be working with local authorities and stakeholders to better understand what professional learning is currently delivered in this area and to identify future professional learning needs.
I also recently announced the development of a strategic education workforce plan. It will embed our vision and values for leaders, teachers and support staff for the future recognising that there are a range of important roles across the school workforce, including those supporting children with speech, language and communication challenges.
