Regional Safeguarding Boards commission and deliver multi-agency training on child sexual abuse including exploitation. Welsh Government supports this by providing annual funding to Boards directly.
We are committed to the provision of training and development for the sector and provide funding through Social Care Wales (SCW) to deliver a number of training and development programmes through the SCW Workforce Development Programme (SCWWDP). The SCWWDP funding provides £7 million annually for the sector, which is match funded by an additional £3 million from local authorities, providing training opportunities to social care workers in their communities in both the voluntary and independent sectors.
The draft ten-year strategy for Preventing and Responding to Child Sexual Abuse which will be consulted on shortly proposes the development of a Child Sexual Abuse training framework that is aligned with the National Safeguarding Training Standards developed by Social Care Wales. All training delivered will be with a trauma-informed lens.
