The Welsh Government estimates the cost of a 1 per cent average increase in the pay of the Welsh devolved public sector workforce to be over £120m in 2025-26. This includes approximately £66m for the NHS workforce (excluding primary care) and an estimated £14m for teachers and FE teaching staff.
Teachers’ and FE teaching staff pay applies from the beginning of each academic year. The cost of a 1 per cent increase for teachers and FE teaching staff in a full year is around £23m.
