The newly published Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy recognises the importance of the third sector in delivering our ambitions which is to put early intervention, prevention and person-centred care at the centre, ensuring people are referred to the most appropriate form of support at the right time, without delay.
A key part of this person-centred approach will be connecting people to local community assets such as local Men’s sheds. This approach empowers individuals to recognise their own needs, strengths, and personal assets and to connect with their own communities for support with their personal health and wellbeing.
Now that the strategy is published we will be working with stakeholders, including health boards, to implement the strategy, with a focus on the actions included in the initial delivery plan.
