How much of the £445 million committed by the UK Government for rail infrastructure investment in Wales over the next 10 years will be delivered via the Welsh Government, and how much will be delivered directly by the UK Government or its agencies?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Cabinet Secretary for Transport and North Wales
After years of calling for fair rail funding for Wales, I welcome the step forward that has been made with the provision of £445m funding for rail infrastructure enhancements in Wales as set out in the Spending Review. £48m of the funding has been identified for enhancements to the Core Valley Lines and will be included in Welsh Government budgets. The joint Welsh and UK Government Wales Rail Board will oversee the delivery of the priorities funded by the Spending Review. Decisions on which delivery body is best placed to take forward each of these priorities has not been decided.
