Does the Welsh Government need to approve a compulsory purchase order during the process whereby local authorities buy property and land for housing?
Ateb
Atebwyd gan Cabinet Secretary for Housing and Local Government
The Welsh Ministers’ role in relation to a local authority’s compulsory purchase of land or property for the purpose of providing housing accommodation is, in particular, set out in the Housing Act 1985, with other provisions set out in the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.
Please note there may be other wider powers which may also relate to the Welsh Ministers’ role when a local authority compulsorily acquires land or property.
