What discussions has the Cabinet Secretary had with the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust about the use of the intelligent routing platform removing capacity for 999 calls made in Wales?

Atebwyd gan Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care
My officials provided feedback to NHS England on their proposal to de-commission the intelligent routing platform (IRP). NHS England is working collaboratively with stakeholders, including the Welsh Ambulance Service University NHS Trust (WAST), to ensure that appropriate mitigations are in place. I understand there are ongoing discussions to extend the IRP service.
As you will be aware, WAST is responsible for delivery of emergency ambulance services in line with commissioning intentions set of it by the NHS Wales Joint Commissioning Committee, and would be best placed to respond to specific operational questions around the use of the intelligent routing platform. Therefore, you may wish to contact the Trust directly for any further operational queries.
