How is the Welsh Government ensuring that children who are home educated are given the opportunity to learn and develop their Welsh language skills?

Atebwyd gan Cabinet Secretary for Education
We provide funding for local authorities to deliver a package of support for home-educated children. As part of the wider package, home educating families will be signposted to Welsh language support. Further information is outlined in the parental handbook Home education: handbook for home educators [HTML] | GOV.WALES.
Whilst parents who decide to home-educate their children must be prepared to assume full responsibility, home-educating families are encouraged to speak to their local authority’s Elective Home Education officer to enquire about access to any local Welsh-speaking opportunities. Local authorities can use their funding from the Welsh Government to provide Welsh lessons.
In addition, my officials have worked closely with Dysgu Cymru to provide home educating parents the opportunity to access Welsh lessons to enable them to support and develop their child’s Welsh language skills. These 10-week courses for parents commenced in May and run until July 2025.
